Patrick Long is a lifelong hunter, long-time writer, and everyday engineer. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering from the University of North Georgia and Georgia Tech, respectively, and recently completed his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Georgia Tech. His technical background shows up regularly in his writing, shaping how he approaches research, testing, and explanation. Patrick enjoys breaking down complex topics into clear, useful information—whether that’s a technical system, a ballistics concept, or a nuanced hunting decision—and that mindset has become a defining part of his work.
Patrick has been hunting since he could walk and harvested his first whitetail deer at the age of five with a .243 Winchester. He hasn’t stopped chasing deer since, and over the years has expanded his time in the field to include duck, turkey, and bear hunting as well. Like many lifelong hunters, his knowledge has been built through a mix of tradition, trial and error, and continual learning. When he eventually combined his passion for hunting with his interest in writing, he launched a whitetail-focused blog called Omega Outdoors, where he documented real hunts, gear decisions, and lessons learned in the field. Over time, Patrick published more than one hundred in-depth articles on the site, laying the foundation for his understanding of long-form content, audience intent, and search-driven publishing.
That experience—paired with hands-on SEO knowledge gained through blogging—naturally led Patrick into freelance writing for outdoor and firearms brands. As his client work grew, he saw a recurring gap in the industry: brands needed content that wasn’t just optimized for search engines, but grounded in real experience and written by people who actually use the products and live the lifestyle. That realization led to the creation of Crosshair Content Co. (C3), a content agency built around expert-driven writing and scalable systems. Today, C3 manages full content strategies for brands and publications, supported by a team of writers and editors with authentic outdoor backgrounds.
In his role as Editor-in-Chief at C3, Patrick oversees editorial standards, workflow systems, and long-term strategy, ensuring that every piece of content serves a real purpose—for readers and for clients. He is deeply involved in building processes that allow his team to work efficiently without sacrificing quality, and he remains hands-on with editing, training, and strategy development. When he finds time away from client work, Patrick enjoys returning to the basics by writing for Omega Outdoors, experimenting with new technical projects, or building tools and systems that solve practical problems. At the core of everything he does is a simple goal: create honest, authoritative resources that stand the test of time.
